THE WARDENS
Legends tell of powerful creatures, not unlike cats, who serve as embodiments and keepers of the elements. Some say they're gods and worship them, some call them spirits, and others say they are cats who ascended beyond mortal life. Either way, they're clearly powerful creatures. Most cats have at least heard of the concept of Wardens, even if they don't know much more.

Their images are found in berries and paint around the remnants of the world. While there are stories of mortals meeting them and gaining their help, you've never heard of anyone actually doing that.

White Warden

The White Keeper is said to be a champion of justice and control the sun. While some say he was once worshipped, feelings now are... mixed. Why doesn't he lower the sun? Is he the cause of this? Or is he the one who's softened the sun for what life remains?

EMBER HEART
Red Warden

The Red Warden is said to live in the bottom of a volcano, at the edge of the freezing side of the Empty Wastes. He brings warmth and guards the land from the frigid death. The Ember Heart rarely comes out, and is often depicted as shy or mysterious. He is mates with his Balance, the Blue Keeper.

The ruler of all water, the Blue Warden is a popular choice of reverence -- if only in the hopes that she'll bring rain and clean water. But most say she prefers to live in the sea, indulging mortals on her unpredictable whims. She is mates with her Balance, the Red Keeper.

The Purple Warden

The Purple Warden is a mystery creature, rarely interacting with mortals. It's said they live on a mountain at the edge of the burning side of the Empty Wastes, holding off the scorching heat. They only answer to mortals who climb their mountain and bring them gifts. They are siblings with their Balance, the Green Warden.

The Green Warden
she/her
The Green Warden is the most capricious and mischievous of all the Wardens, often messing with mortals and causing problems. She serves as the messenger for the Wardens, helping them communicate with each other over long distances... even if she doesn't tell the message exactly right. She is sister to her Balance, the Purple Warden.

SHADOW
THE BLACK WARDEN
Nobody knows anything about the Black Warden... except for you. He is wise, and deeply passionate for all life. He died attempting to heal cats of their mortality, and ultimately failed. Some say his death caused the world to be as it is, and others say he never existed.
